Coach Kanney...
"Chris plays an integral role in our softball program. Her experience, coupled with her knowledge of the game, benefit us in more ways than one. Because of her ten-plus years of involvement as a player and coach in the  Midwest Conference, Chris can not only relate well to our current players, but can provide unique and knowledgeable insight to prospective student-athletes."
Coach Pier begins her eighth year (1997-present) as assistant softball coach for the Foresters.

During her time as an assistant Lake Forest has qualified for the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament four times and won two conference championships (2002 & 2003). With each championship came a bid to the NCAA Regional tournament. In 2002 the Foresters won the Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA National Tournament, where they won five games before finishing as the National Runner-Up. That team set a school record for wins in a single season with 34.

Pier arrived at Lake Forest in 1995 with seven years of coaching experience in the Midwest Conference as an assistant softball and basketball coach at Lawrence University.

Pier received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from St. Norbert College in 1987. She was an All-Conference performer in both softball and basketball and participated in eight conference tournaments during her collegiate career.

During the Fall, Pier serves as the Foresters' assistant women's tennis coach, which won the school's first-ever conference team title in 1999.

She has previously served the College as head softball (1996-97) and head women's tennis coach (1995-1998).
