Lake Forest is 3-2 After Splitting Games on Day Three
Foresters beat Muskingum, lose to College of New Jersey

Tina Koludrovic had a pair of doubles against Muskingum.
KISSIMMEE, FL - The Lake Forest College softball team defeated Muskingum College 4-3 Tuesday (March 11) before falling to the College of New Jersey 2-1. The Foresters are now 3-2 after three days of play at the Rebel Spring Games. Both Muskingum and the College of New Jersey are now 2-2.

Neither Lake Forest nor Muskingum scored in the first four innings of the day's early game. The Muskies benefited from a pair of wild pitches to finally put a run on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth.

With one out in the bottom half of the frame, freshman designated player Melissa Wegner (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) singled and scored on a double by sophomore shortstop Tina Koludrovic (Darien, IL/Downers Grove South). Sophomore second baseman Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago) drove in Koludrovic with a single to give the Foresters the lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, junior pitcher Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/ Beecher) got her second base hit in the game with two outs and advanced to second on a single by Wegner. Koludrovic's second double of the game drove in both baserunners, giving Lake Forest a valuable three-run cushion.

Freshman Ashley Closson (Murphysboro, IL/Murphysboro) came in to pitch the seventh and, despite allowing a pair of unearned runs, struck out the final batter of the game to pick up the save. Findeisen gave up just one run on four hits in six innings of work to earn the victory and is now 2-1 on the season.

In the second game of the day, the Foresters scored their only run in the top of the fourth. Mildebrath led off with a walk, stole second, and came home on a two-out double by senior first baseman Shannon Joselane (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard East), who had two of the team's five hits in the game.

Junior pitcher Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield) held the College of New Jersey scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. The Lions used four base hits in the inning to score twice and claim the come-from-behind victory.

Lake Forest's two games on Wednesday will be against Bridgewater State College at 2:20 and New Jersey City University at 4:10.
