Mallory Norton Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Senior batted .524 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Mallory Norton (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (March 18) for her performance in six games at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic the previous weekend (March 12-14).

Norton, a senior third baseman, batted .524 (11-for-21) with two doubles, a home run, and eight runs batted in at the event. She had at least one base hit in each contest, extending her season-opening hitting streak to 10 games.

Now hitting a team-high .486 on the season, Norton has climbed to second in program history with a .393 career batting average. She also ranks second in Forester annals with a .629 career slugging percentage, third with 36 doubles, tied-for-fourth with 14 home runs, and sixth with 140 hits and 89 runs batted in.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Norton also earned the award once last season and twice in 2007.
