Shannon Clerkin Named Forester Athlete of the Week 
Sophomore earned first win and batted .455
  

 Shannon Clerkin excelled on the mound and at the plate at the Rebel Spring Games.
LAKE FOREST, IL  Lake Forest College softball player Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) was named Forester Athlete of the Week for helping her team to a 7-2 record in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.

Clerkin finished the week with a .455 batting average, a .571 on-base percentage and a .909 slugging percentage, which were all team highs. The sophomore pitcher and first baseman was 5-for-11 with five runs scored and two runs batted in. On the mound she recorded an earned run average of 0.88 in eight innings of work, and her opponents batted just .138.

The biggest game of the week for Clerkin was the Foresters' 4-1 win over Alfred University. She gave up four hits, struck out four and walked none to earn the first victory of her career. She also factored in on all four Lake Forest runs, scoring three and knocking in one. Her three-hit performance included two triples. 

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
