Nancy Findeisen Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Sophomore pitcher threw a no-hitter and 27-1/3 scoreless innings

Nancy Findeisen's no-hitter was one of her three shutouts in the Rebel Spring Games.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/Beecher) was named Forester Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, FL. Findeisen pitched three complete-game shutouts during the trip, including her first collegiate no-hitter, and allowed just one run in 28 innings.

Findeisen's first shutout was a 1-0 win over Muskingum College, the 2001 NCAA Division III National Champion and this year's top-ranked team in a national preseason coaches' poll (USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association). She allowed just 5 hits, struck out one and did not walk a batter as she ended Muskingum's NCAA record 35-game winning streak. The sophomore hurler followed that up with a 2-0 shutout of 14th ranked Denison University in which she gave up 3 hits, struck out 9 and walked none.

As impressive as those performances were, the best was yet to come for Findeisen. She threw seven innings of no-hit ball against Springfield College, posting 13 strikeouts and just one walk in the 4-0 victory. In her final outing of the Florida excursion, Findeisen suffered her only defeat despite another stellar stint on the mound. In a 1-0 loss to Simpson College she retired the first 16 batters she faced before a sixth inning single ended her bid for back-to-back no-hitters. With one out in the seventh, Simpson finally scored the game's only run. It was the only score allowed by Findeisen in 28 innings on the trip, giving her an earned run average of 0.25.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
