Foresters Split Doubleheader at North Central
Findeisen records second straight shutout

Shanon Joselane had a double and an RBI-triple in game one.
NAPERVILLE, IL - The Forester softball team registered a win and a loss Saturday (March 29) afternoon at North Central College, shutting out the Cardinals 3-0 in the first game of the doubleheader and falling 3-1 in game two. Lake Forest's record on the year is now 8-3 while North Central is 9-4-1.

Junior Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/ Beecher) pitched game one for the Foresters and limited the home team to just two hits. She struck out one and walked one en route to her second straight shutout.

Senior first baseman Shanon Joselane (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard East) was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple in the game. Her three-bagger drove in sophomore second baseman Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago) with the game's first run in the top of the fourth inning. The Foresters used two of North Central errors to score in the fifth and added one in the sixth after sophomore designated player Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) doubled and a pair of groundouts scored the pinch runner.

In the second game, Lake Forest took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when North Central's pitcher issued a pair of walks, threw a wild pitch, and added a fielding error.

The Cardinals finally got on the scoreboard with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth. The rally started with a pair of one-out singles. A two-base error scored the first run, put runners on second and third, and set up a well-executed suicide squeeze.

North Central scored one more in the sixth on two singles, another Forester error, and a wild pitch.

Senior second baseman Megan Gibson (Brown Deer, WI/Brown Deer) went 3-for-4, matching her career-high for hits in a game. Sophomore shortstop Tina Koludrovic (Darien, IL/Downers Grove South) was 2-for-4 and now leads the team with 10 base hits on the season.

The Foresters out-hit North Central 8-7 and drew four walks, but left 12 runners on base. The visitors stranded at least two runners in five separate innings and left the bases loaded twice.

Lake Forest will play its home opener next Saturday (April 5) at 1:00 p.m. against Monmouth College. It will also be the Midwest Conference opener for both squads. The following afternoon, the Foresters will host Illinois College, another MWC foe, at 1:00 p.m.
