Tracy Rainey Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Sophomore batted .429 in four games

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (May 1) for her performance in a pair of doubleheaders during the previous seven days.

Rainey was 1-for-3 with a walk in the Foresters’ 2-1 victory over visiting Grinnell College in the opener on Saturday (April 26). The win clinched Lake Forest’s right to host the 2008 Midwest Conference Championship Tournament this weekend (May 2-3). Her RBI-double in the bottom of the seventh inning tied the score at one and put the eventual winning run on third base. She was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored in game two.

On Tuesday she batted 3-for-4 with her first home run of the season – a three-run shot – as the team defeated visiting North Central College 5-4 in the opener. Lake Forest fell 7-0 in game two.

Rainey batted .429 (6-for-14) on the week and handled 28 chances without an error at shortstop.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Rainey also earned the award on January 24 for her performance on the basketball court.
