Head Coach Diane Kanney Named MWC South Division Coach of the Year
Kanney collects second such award of her five-year tenure at Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College Head Softball Coach Diane Kanney has been selected the 2001 Midwest Conference South Division Coach of the Year. 

It was second such award of Kanney's career. She was also named Coach of the Year in 1998.

This season, Kanney led the Foresters to an 18-17-1 overall record, the program's first winning season since 1997 (17-6). Lake Forest was 9-3-1 in the MWC and won the South Division outright. It was just the second time in school history that Lake Forest had won a division title outright (1985). 

Playing as the South's top seed at the MWC Championship Tournament, the Foresters took third place, improving on last year's fourth place finish and claiming the school's highest finish at the tournament since 1991 when they also took third place. The Foresters won their only league title in 1988.
