Nancy Findeisen Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Hurler posted impressive numbers in three key wins

Nancy Findeisen struck out 29 batters in three games, raising her school-record total for
the season to 114.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/Beecher) was named Forester Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performances in three wins that helped the Foresters earn the right to host the Midwest Conference Championship Tournament this weekend (May 3-4). The sophomore pitcher gave up just two runs, one of them earned, recorded 29 strikeouts, and walked only one in 19.0 innings of work.

Findeisen faced Benedictine University, the nation's twelfth-ranked team (USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association), in the first of her three wins. In one of her best performances of the year she took a perfect game into the fifth inning and a bid for her second no-hitter of the season into the sixth. In six innings Findeisen allowed just one run on two base hits and struck out 12, earning the 5-1 win.

The next two victories came against Midwest Conference opponents Grinnell College and Knox College. In a 9-0 victory over Grinnell the sophomore struck out eight and allowed just three hits in her seventh complete-game shutout of the year. She gave up seven hits and struck out nine in an eight-inning 2-1 win over Knox, raising her school record for strikeouts in a season to 114. Knox's lone run was unearned, so Findeisen lowered her earned run average to 0.80 while improving her record to 11-5.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
