LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Christy Condon (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield East) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (May 3) for her performance in a pair of doubleheader sweeps at Midwest Conference opponents the previous weekend (April 28-29).

Condon, a junior outfielder/first baseman, was singled in her first plate appearance and drew walks in the next three in Saturday’s opener at Grinnell College, an 8-3 Forester victory. She batted 2-for-4 in the second game, an 11-3 six-inning Lake Forest win, and scored four runs on the day to become the program’s single-season record-holder in the category with 38 on the year.

The Foresters swept Knox College 16-4 and 8-0 (five innings) the following day and Condon continued to excel at the plate. She was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the opener and 1-for-2 with a three-run homer in the second game.

Condon batted .545 (6-for-11) on the weekend with four walks, six runs scored, and four driven in. She raised her batting average on the year to .429 and pulled to within one home run of the school record 10 she belted last season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Condon also earned the award twice in 2006.
