Erin Watts Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman hit three home runs in MWC Tournament 

  

Erin Watts has hit six home runs so far this season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Erin Watts (Evergreen Park, IL/Evergreen Park) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (May 6) after leading the team to its third consecutive Midwest Conference Championship over the weekend (April 30-May 1).

The Foresters hosted the tourney and defeated Lawrence University 7-0 Friday afternoon in the first round. Watts was 1-for-2 with a solo home run in the game and also delivered a sacrifice bunt.

Later on Friday, the hosts knocked off Ripon College 9-1 in five innings. Watts was 1-for-3 in the contest with a home run and a pair of runs scored.

Finally, in Saturday’s 13-1 (5 innings) championship game victory over Ripon, Watts homered for the third straight game and team-high sixth time this season. She also doubled in the game, scored twice, and drove in three runs.

The freshman right fielder was 4-for-8 on the weekend with a double and three home runs. She drove in five runs and scored five times herself. In addition to leading the 2004 squad in home runs, she is also tied for first with 27 runs batted in, tied for second with eight stolen bases, and in third place with 24 runs scored.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
