Three Lake Forest College Players Named to All-Region Teams

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region Teams were released Monday (May 7) and three Lake Forest College players made the list. Junior outfielder Christy Condon (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) and freshman first baseman/catcher Shelby Neill (Manitou Beach, Mich./Lenawee Christian) were Second Team selections and freshman shortstop Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was named to the Third Team.

Condon broke her own single-season school record with 11 home runs on the year and also established new marks with 45 runs scored and 89 total bases. In addition, she led the Foresters with a .432 batting average, 48 base hits, 34 runs batted in, a slugging percentage of .802, 14 walks, and a .492 on-base percentage. Condon is now the program’s all-time leader with 23 home runs and a .705 slugging percentage in her career. She also ranks tied-for-third in career RBI (72), fourth in total bases (201), and fifth in on-base percentage (.433).

Neill finished just below Condon with a .430 batting average and 33 RBI on the year. She was also second on the squad with seven home runs, 71 total bases, a .763 slugging percentage, and a .449 on-base percentage. She was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week on April 11 after recording one of the best offensive performances in team history against Illinois College on Saturday, April 7. Neill was 5-for-5 with a grand slam, three doubles, and nine RBI in that game, a 17-10 Forester victory.

Rainey batted .373 on the year with a pair of home runs. She finished second on the team with 47 base hits and 34 runs scored and third with eight doubles and 29 runs batted in. Rainey played every inning of every game at shortstop and committed just six errors in 181 chances while making numerous “highlight reel” plays.

Lake Forest finished the season with a 20-16 overall record and a 12-1 mark in Midwest Conference play.
