Tracy Rainey
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (May 7) for her performance at the Midwest Conference Championship Tournament the previous weekend (May 1-2).

Rainey, a junior shortstop, was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the event’s opener on Friday, an 8-1 loss to eventual league champion St. Norbert College. Her second base hit was a double, her team record 16th of the season.

The Foresters remained alive in the double-elimination tournament later on Friday with a 17-8 six-inning triumph over Monmouth College. Rainey set two career-highs with five RBI and eight total bases in the contest and matched another with four base hits, including a double and her fifth home run of the year. She also scored three times in the game.

Finally, in a season-ending 6-5 loss to St. Norbert Saturday morning, Rainey was 3-for-3 with a walk and matched school records with her 54th hit of the year and 37th career double. She also scored for the 100th time in her career and drove in a pair of runs.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Rainey earned the award four times this season, twice last year in softball, and once during the 2007-08 basketball season.
