Four Foresters Earn All-Region Honors
Mildebrath makes First Team

Alissa Mildebrath was a First Team All-Region selection.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Louisville Slugger and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its NCAA Division III all-region teams Thursday (May 8), and Lake Forest had four players make the All-Great Lakes Region lists. The organization chose a 15-member first, second, and third team from each of eight regions.

After earning second team honors a year ago, sophomore second baseman Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago) was the Foresters' lone first team selection this season. Mildebrath leads Lake Forest with a .433 batting average, 26 runs scored (tied), 42 base hits, three triples, three home runs, 24 runs batted in, 63 total bases, a .496 slugging percentage, four stolen bases (tied), and a .496 on-base percentage. She has also made just five errors in 130 chances in the field.

As she did two years ago, senior third baseman Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City) earned second team honors. Slater is second on the Foresters with a .395 batting average, 22 RBI, and a .617 slugging percentage. She set school records for doubles in a game (3), season (13), and career (37). Slater is Lake Forest's career record-holder with 100 RBI and 200 total bases and is tied with Mildebrath for the home runs record with 11.

Joining Slater on the second team is junior pitcher Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield), who earned third team honors in 2002. Furgerson leads the 2003 Foresters with an 11-3 record and a 1.27 earned run average. She became the school's career leader with 35 victories (against just 16 losses), 36 complete games, and 342 innings pitched and ranks second with a 1.49 ERA.

After batting just .221 in her first three seasons in a Lake Forest uniform, senior first baseman Shanon Joselane (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard East) is hitting .354 this year and earned third team all-region distinction. She leads the team with 14 bases on balls and is second with a .447 on-base percentage. The lefty has made just three errors on the year in 253 chances.
