Robyn Slater is the MWC South Player of the Year.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The All-Midwest Conference South and North Division Teams were released Friday (May 9) and four Foresters made the list. Eleven players from each five-team division earn all-conference honors. A Player and Coach of the Year from each division were also selected.

For the second straight season and the fourth time in the last six years, a Forester has been named MWC South Division Player of the Year. This year's selection, senior Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City), hit .441 in conference games. Despite not batting in three of 13 league contests because of injury, Slater finished tied-for-second in the MWC with six doubles and tied-for-fourth with 11 RBI.

Last year's South Division Player of the Year, sophomore second baseman Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago), also earned all-conference honors in 2003. Mildebrath batted .457 in MWC play and led the league with 21 base hits, 15 RBI, three home runs (tied), 38 total bases, and a staggering .826 slugging percentage. She also ranks second with 13 runs scored and three triples (tied).

For the first time in her career, senior first baseman Shanon Joselane (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard East) was an all-conference selection. She batted .417 in league games with a .528 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage.

Junior Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield), who also made the list as a freshman, was one of three pitchers on South Division team. Furgerson had a conference-best 6-0 record in league play and was second with a 0.90 earned run average. Opponents hit just .187 against her, the best mark in the MWC.

Monmouth College also placed four players on the South Division team and had the Coach of the Year, LeAnn Hagen. Two players from Grinnell and one from Knox also earned all-conference honors. In the North, Lawrence University, St. Norbert College, and Carroll College each had three all-conference players and Beloit had a pair. Lawrence's Jenny Burris was the North's Player of the Year and Beloit's Maureen Boyle earned North Division Coach of the Year honors.
