Six Foresters Earn All-Midwest Conference South Division Honors
Grant, Condon, and Neill earn division’s Pitcher/Position Player of the Year honors

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2007 All-Midwest Conference South Division softball teams were announced Wednesday (May 9) and six Lake Forest College players made the list. First Team selections included South Division Co-Position Players of the Year Christy Condon (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) and Shelby Neill (Manitou Beach, Mich./Lenawee Christian), Pitcher of the Year Kendra Grant (Bothell, Wash./Bothell), and Mallory Norton (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection). Hannah Michal (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake) and Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) were Second Team choices.

Condon, a junior outfielder/first baseman, led the league with 25 runs scored and also ranked among the top five with a .512 batting average, .976 slugging percentage, .600 on-base percentage, 21 base hits, 19 runs batted in, six home runs, 40 total bases, and nine walks. She was also a first team selection last year.

Neill, a freshman first baseman/catcher, ranked second in the conference with a .541 batting average and a 1.108 slugging percentage. Despite missing a pair of league games due to injury, she was also third with 20 RBI, tied-for-third with five home runs, and tied-for-fourth with a .550 on-base percentage.

Grant, a junior, posted a perfect 6-0 record and 3.13 earned run average during conference play. She tied for third in the league in victories and was the conference’s only undefeated pitcher with more than two decisions. She surrendered just three walks to league foes in 38 innings of work. Grant was also named to the first team last season.

Norton, a freshman third baseman, batted .500 during conference games and tied for second in the league with 21 base hits and seven doubles on the year. She also drove in 17 runs and posted a .881 slugging percentage.

Michal, a sophomore centerfielder and leadoff hitter, batted .450 in 12 conference games with 16 runs scored, six doubles, three homers, and 12 RBI. She also posted a slugging percentage of .825 and on-base percentage of .522.

Rainey, a freshman shortstop, hit .400 in league play with 17 runs scored, a home run, and 15 runs batted in. She was also second in the conference with 44 assists and committed just two errors in 67 chances in the field.

It marked the fourth consecutive season that Lake Forest players have earned at least a share of both the Pitcher and Position Player of the Year awards in the South Division.
