ROB EDGELL NAMED SECOND TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN

Lake Forest College's Rob Edgell, a senior swimmer from Alsager, England, has been selected to the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for the second consecutive year. He was a Third Team selection last year, and was named to the Second Team in 1999-2000. Edgell is part of the College Division Men's At-Large group, which encompasses athletes participating in numerous sports at NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools from across the country. Represented sports on this year's squad included soccer, wrestling, cross country, swimming, fencing, ice hockey, and water polo.

Edgell is three-time Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Year (1997, 1998, and 2000) and finished his career having never lost an individual event at the conference meet. During his career, he recorded six Honorable Mention All-American swims, including three such swims at the 2000 NCAA Championships. Edgell holds eight schools records (six individual and two relay events).

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select GTE Academic All-America® teams in ten programs: football, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, fall/winter men's at-large, spring men's at-large, fall/winter women's at-large and women's spring at-large. A first team, second team and third team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions. Football consists of just first and second teams.
