EDGELL NAMED TO GTE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA THIRD TEAM
The College Sports Information Directors of America have named Rob Edgell, a junior swimmer for Lake Forest College, to the GTE Academic All-America College Division Men’s Fall/Winter At-Large Third Team.  The College Division encompasses all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools.  Edgell, a native of Alsager, England, became eligible for the All-America award after being selected to the All-District Five team on March 24th.  He is the only Midwest Conference athlete named to the 45-member unit (15 first teamers, 17 second teamers, and 13 on the third team).
Edgell is a three-time All-American (1997 200 free, 1998 200 free and 200 IM) and two-time (1997 and 1998) Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Year.  He holds the MWC and school record in seven events (100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 200 back, 400 IM, 200 free relay, and 800 free relay) and is a 20-time MWC champion (9 individual and 11 relay events).  He has never lost an individual race at the conference meet and his relay teams have lost only once.  Edgell is also a two-time member (1998 and 1999) of the MWC All-Academic team and a 1997 and 1998 CSCAA Academic All-American.
