Senior Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) posted the Foresters’ best finish on Friday when he placed seventh in the 100-freestyle (47.89 seconds). Ojdana also finished 16th in the 500-freestyle (4:48.64). Freshman Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) had the team’s only other top-10 finish with his ninth-place performance in the 200-backstroke. His time of 1:57.13 makes him the fourth-fastest swimmer in that event in team history. On the women’s side freshman Lisa Carpenter (Edina, Minn./Edina) placed 14th in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:33.32. Classmate Whitney Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School of Acadinda) was 21st in the 100-freestyle (57.50) and 22nd in the 100-breaststroke (1:16.87). On Saturday Mackin finished fourth in the 100-backstroke in 53.47, placing him third in program history in that event. He was also 18th in the 100-butterfly (54.48). Ojdana had his best finish of the meet by placing fifth in the 200-freestyle (1:45.78) and senior Nick Primrose (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) was 15th in the 50-freestyle (22.44). Carpenter finished seventh in the 1650-freestyle in 19:27.84 and sophomores Ashley DeBo (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) and Nicki Larson (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa West) were 19th (21:30.92) and 23rd (22:16.65) in that event. Hales also earned team points by placing 21st in the 50-freestyle in 26.19. Lake Forest’s next meet will occur during its training trip to Miami, Florida. After the trip the Foresters will compete in the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Hope College on Saturday, January 19. Overall Results
