Michael Mackin Named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
Freshman joined the program’s fastest in two events

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College swimmer Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday (December 4) for his performance at the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic the previous weekend (November 30-December 1).

Mackin, a freshman who swims the backstroke, butterfly, and freestyle, placed ninth in the 200-backstroke on Friday in 1:57.13, making him the fourth-fastest swimmer in team history in that event. He also finished fourth in Saturday’s 100-backstroke with a time of 53.47 seconds, ranking him third in program history. Mackin placed 18th in his other individual event, the 100-butterfly, with a time of 54.48 seconds.

Mackin currently ranks first in the conference in all three of the events mentioned above.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league’s sports information director.
