Foresters Close Out Season at Midwest Classic
Motzer improves on national B-cut time in 200 Fly

Erin Motzer posted her 2nd National-cut time and Brady Lowdermilk swam 2 career-best times.
KENOSHA, WI - Fifteen members of the Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams competed in the Midwest Classic at Carthage College Friday and Saturday (February 21-22) in hopes of improving on season-best times and gaining experience in new events. Mission accomplished. Nine Forester women produced seven season-best times, while six men totaled four.

Senior Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) did exactly what she set out to do in her only event of the meet, the 200-yard butterfly. She bettered her national B-cut qualifying time by clocking a career-best 2:11.81. Her second-place finish was the women's best of the meet.

Fellow seniors Erin Poynter (Fort Collins, CO/Ft. Collins) and Alexia Branch (St. Louis, MO/Clayton ) also registered career-best times in their final meet. Poynter finished the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.59 even though she was swimming it for the first time this season. Branch swam a 1:28.47 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Also posting impressive numbers for the Foresters was first-year swimmer Liz Eberlein (Troy, MI/Marian), who recorded her best times of the season in both the 400-yard individual medley (4:57.25) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.30). Her 400 IM time was more than ten seconds faster than her previous best.

On the men's side, it was a very good weekend for junior Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis). He registered three of the four men's season-bests, two of which were also career-best times for him. He shaved more than twelve seconds off his previous career-best in the 500 free (4:57.91) and established a new personal mark in the 200 free (1:49.24) as well. His third season-best time of 54.67 in the 100-yard butterfly earned him third place.

The lone Forester win in the meet came from senior Eric Boarini (Wadsworth, IL/Carmel), who won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.56.
