Foresters Fall to Illinois Tech in Final Tune-up before MWC Championships

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams hosted Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday (February 3). The Forester women were outscored 131-65 and the men fell by a slim 111-110 margin. The Lake Forest women finished the dual meet portion of their season with a 2-8 record and the men were 4-6.

Junior Maggie Rezac (Omaha, Neb./Marian) placed first with career-best marks in both of the diving events, posting a score of 277.25 off the 1-meter board and a school record 297.95 in the 3-meter competition.

Juniors Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and Nick Primrose (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) also placed first in two events on the men’s side. Ojdana prevailed in both the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.26) and 400-meter freestyle (4:29.19) and Primrose won the 50-meter freestyle (25.56) and 100-meter backstroke (1:07.41).

Other event winners for the Forester women included sophomore Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, Minn./Minnetonka) in the 100-meter backstroke (1:15.30), senior Anne Haas (South Berwick, Maine/St. Thomas Aquinas) in the 400-freestyle (5:02.88), and fellow senior Alexandra Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School) in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:27.40).

For the Lake Forest men, freshman Josh D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) captured first place in the 800-meter freestyle in 9:43.46, senior Jon D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor) touched the wall first in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.35), and freshman David Ristau (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) won the 100-meter freestyle (56.68).

The meet also served as a final tune-up before next weekend’s (February 9-11) Midwest Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Grinnell College. Event preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and an hour earlier on Sunday. The finals, which will be shown live on the web at www.midwestconference.tv, will begin at 5:30 Friday and Saturday evening and at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
