Forester Women Win, Men Fall against I.I.T.
Four Foresters win pair of individual events


Chelsea Bueter is undefeated in individual dual meet events during the 2005-06 season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving team hosted Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday (February 4). The Forester women came out on top of a 130-96 decision and the men were defeated 141.5-80.5. The women's team is now 5-2 this season and the men fell to 4-3.

The diving competition was held first and Lake Forest sophomore Kendall Swett (Akron, OH/Hawken) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 257.05 and 297.20, respectively. Freshman Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, MN/Minnetonka), sophomore Lauren Petersen (Arvada, CO/J.K. Mullen), and juniors Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) and Alexandra Hales (New Iberia, LA/Episcopal School) started the swimming portion of the meet with a victory and time of 2:13.32 in the 200-meter medley relay. Sasanfar later added wins in both the 200-meter freestyle (2:24.56) and 100-meter backstroke (1:13.70) and Bueter posted back-to-back victories in the 200-meter individual medley (2:34.58) and 100-meter butterfly (1:09.52). Senior Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) touched the wall first in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:02.55 and Petersen prevailed in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:24.72.

The Forester men also won the 200-meter medley relay. Freshmen Dustin Koch (Carmel, IN/Carmel) and Oleg Buldakov (Ekaterinburg, Russia/United World College) combined with juniors Derek Drayer (Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado) and Jon D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor) for the winning time of 1:59.18. Sophomore Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) won a pair of individual events, finishing first in both the 200-meter freestyle (2:00.55) and 100-meter freestyle (56.96). Drayer won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:21.18 and D’Angelo tied for first in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:05.56.

The meet also served as a final tune-up before next weekend’s (February 10-12) Midwest Conference Championships at Lawrence University. Competition on all three days will begin at 10:00 a.m.
