Forester Swimmers Compete at Wheaton, Rezac Wins Twice at Chicago
Chelsea Bueter captures pair of individual victories

WHEATON, Ill. - The Lake Forest College swimmers placed third on the men’s side and fourth in the women’s competition at the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular, hosted by Wheaton College, on Saturday (January 13). Hope College was the winner and Wheaton the runner-up in both team standings. Kalamazoo College placed third on the women’s side and fourth on the men’s. The Kalamazoo men were the only opponent not ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation.

Senior Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) had the most success of any Forester at the meet. She placed first by more than a second in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:17.42. She also won the 200-breaststroke in 2:31.49, just 0.11 seconds faster than the runner-up. Senior Anne Haas (South Berwick, Maine/St. Thomas Aquinas) placed fifth in the 1000-freestyle (11:46.74) and seventh in the 500-freestyle (5:45.24). Sophomore Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, Minn./Minnetonka) was eighth in the 200-backstroke (2:29.28) and ninth in the 200-freestyle (2:14.09).

On the men’s side junior Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) placed third in the 200-freestyle in 1:48.91 and sixth in the 500-freestyle in 5:07.97. Freshman Josh D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) was fifth in both the 200-freestyle (1:50.75) and 100-freestyle (50.71). Junior Nick Primrose (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) finished seventh in the 200-backstroke (2:10.70) and senior Jon D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor) took the same place in the 200-butterfly (2:09.87). The older D’Angelo was also eighth in the 500-freestyle (5:18.56).

While the swimmers competed at Wheaton, junior diver Maggie Rezac (Omaha, Neb./Marian) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the University of Chicago Invitational. Her 11-dive scores of 418.70 in the 1-meter competition and 431.40 off the 3-meter board are also NCAA National Meet qualifying marks.

Lake Forest’s next competition will be on Saturday, January 27, when it plays host to Benedictine University. The team will also host Illinois Institute of Technology the following Saturday (February 3).
