and Diving Opens Semeter at Hope
Freshman Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie), sophomore Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and senior Julie Weglarz (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Prep) led the Forester women by combining for six top-three finishes. Bueter won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.57 and was runner-up in the 200-Individual Medley (2:15.19). Recording two season-best times, Lindsey finished second in the grueling 1000-Freestyle (11:17.03) and third in the 200-Breaststroke (2:32.13). Weglarz matched that by taking second in the 3-meter diving competition (192.70 points) and third in the 1-meter event (171.50). Three other Lake Forest women posted top-six finishes. Sophomore Marie Pool (Redding, CA/Central Valley) claimed fourth place in the 100-Freestyle (56.69) and classmate Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) took sixth in the 200-Backstroke (2:23.17). Freshman Anne Haas (South Berwick, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) swam her best time of the season, 11:43.60, in the 1000-Freestyle to place fifth and added a sixth in the 500-Freestyle (5:45.44). On the men's side, the Foresters went two-three-four in the 200-yard Butterfly in their best race of the day. Senior Aaron Lawlor (Vernon Hills, IL/Libertyville) recorded a season-best time of 2:07.11 to finish second, senior Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) was third in 2:07.51 and freshman Jonathan D'Angelo (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor) took the fourth spot with a time of 2:08.16. A fourth top-six finish was registered by Lowdermilk, who placed sixth in the 200-Backstroke (2:09.67). Lake Forest will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin, Saturday (January 24) for a dual meet against Midwest Conference opponent Lawrence University. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
