Foresters Place Second at Lawrence Invitational
Ojdana, Bueter, Hable, and Swett each win twice

APPLETON, WI - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams each placed second at the Lawrence Invitational on Saturday (January 21). The host school won both the five-team men’s and six-team women’s competitions.

Junior Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) and sophomores Mia Hable (Hudson, OH/Hudson) and Kendall Swett (Akron, OH/Hawken) each won a pair of individual events. Bueter bested the field by more than six seconds in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:16.60 and she also won the 100-butterfly in 1:01.47. Hable touched the wall first in both distance events, winning the 500-freestyle in 5:28.39 and the 1650-freestyle in 18:50.56. Swett posted the meet’s highest scores in both the 1-meter (218.30) and 3-meter (237.30) diving events.

Bueter and Hable also joined freshman Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, MN/Minnetonka) and sophomore Lauren Petersen (Arvada, CO/J.K. Mullen) to win the 400-medley relay in 4:20.56. Sasanfar added a victory in the 100-backstroke in 1:05.08. Runner-up finishes on the women’s side were turned in by the 200-medley relay team and by sophomore Maggie Rezac (Omaha, NE/Marian) in both diving events.

Sophomore Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) was the lone double-even winner among the Forester men. He triumphed in the 200-freestyle in 1:47.62 and won the 1650-freestyle in 17:29.77, more than 50 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Freshman Jared Bieschke (Milford, NH/Milford) added a victory in 1-meter diving with a score of 160.70.

Lake Forest placed second in the 400-medley, 200-freestyle, and 400-freestyle relays. Individual second-place performances for the Forester men included freshman Dustin Koch (Carmel, IN/Carmel) in the 100-butterfly (57.43) and junior Derek Drayer (Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado) in the 100-breaststroke (1:05.28).

Lake Forest will travel to Benedictine University for a dual meet next Saturday (January 28). The contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. The team’s final home meet of the season will be the following Saturday (February 4) against North Central College and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
