Lake Forest Defeats Benedictine University at Home
Four Foresters win two individual events apiece

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester men’s and women’s swimming teams hosted and defeated Benedictine University Saturday (January 27) afternoon. The Lake Forest women won 99-20 and the men posted a 92-30 victory over the Eagles.

Three Forester seniors finished first in two events on the women’s side. Anne Haas (South Berwick, Maine/St. Thomas Aquinas) was victorious in the 200-meter freestyle (2:26.20) and 400-meter freestyle (5:04.68). Alexandra Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School) won both the 50-meter freestyle (30.94) and 100-meter freestyle (1:09.68). Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) touched the wall first in the 400-meter individual medley (5:25.19) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:51.01).

Other event winners for the Forester women included freshman Ashley Debo (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) in the 200-meter butterfly (3:28.50) and sophomore Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, Minn./Minnetonka) in the 200-meter backstroke (2:44.24).

The Lake Forest men were led by freshman Josh D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who won both the 50-meter freestyle (25.44) and 100-meter freestyle (55.64).

Five other Forester men posted one victory apiece. Junior Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) triumphed in the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.02), freshman Justin Stenger (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) prevailed in the 400-meter IM (6:16.99), senior Jon D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor) touched the wall first in the 200-meter butterfly (2:20.79), freshman Devin McIntyre (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) won the 200-meter backstroke (2:26.28), and sophomore Giorgio Ferrero (Rome, Italy) recorded a victory in the 400-meter freestyle (5:14.86).

Lake Forest will host its final home meet of the year next Saturday (February 3) against Illinois Institute of Technology. The competition will begin at noon.
