LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College swimmer Joe Zemaitis (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) was named Midwest Conference Male Swimmer of the Week for leading his team to a Senior Day win over the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday, January 26.

Zemaitis, swimming in his final home meet at Lake Forest College, went out with a bang by swimming in all 11 events in the Foresters' 115-74 victory. He finished first in the 800-meter freestyle (9:31.22), the 200 freestyle (2:08.96) and the 400 freestyle (4:35.48). The 800 and 200 were the first two individual events of the meet and the 400 was the next-to-last. While his performances in the six other individual events did not count in the standings, he still posted respectable times in the 50 freestyle (28.74), 200 IM (2:38.43), 100 butterfly (1:09.99), 100 freestyle (1:00.02), 100 backstroke (1:16.32) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.56). He also swam a leg on the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

For the season Zemaitis has recorded top-three Lake Forest times in seven events, including the second-best times in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle events. He is also a member of all three of the team's top freestyle relay units.

The Midwest Conference Swimmers of the Week are chosen by the league's sports information directors.
