Foresters Fall at Illinois Tech in Final Dual Meet of the Season
Team will compete MWC Championship Meet February 13-15

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams were defeated at Illinois Institute of Technology Saturday (January 31) in the Foresters' final tune-up before the Midwest Conference Championship Meet in two weeks. The Scarlet Hawk women won 107-99 and the men prevailed 113-67. It was Lake Forest's last dual meet of the season. The women finished 5-4 and the men 2-7.

Freshman diver Jade Perkins (Denver, Colo./JK Mullen) was the most successful Forester on the day, winning the 1-meter competition with a career-high 194.90 points and also finishing first off the 3-meter board (181.30 points).

Freshman Emily Watts (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) preaviled in the 100-freestyle in 58.22 seconds and sophomore Whitney Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School of Acadinda) won the 100-breaststroke in 1:14.81. In addition, the two were joined by freshman Claire Perrott (Northfield, Minn./Colegio San Isidro de Heredia) and senior Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, Minn./Minnetonka) on the victorious 200-freestyle relay team, which finished in 1:48.02.

Sophomore Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) and junior Derek Atchley (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) turned in the only individual victories for the Lake Forest men. Mackin won the 100-butterfly in 56.47 seconds and Atchley finished first in the 100-breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:10.75.

The Foresters have already begun preparing for their next competition, the 2009 Midwest Conference Championship Meet. Grinnell College will host this year's championships February 13-15.
