June 12, 2008 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Maggie Rezac Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American
Rezac appeared on the Academic All-American ballot after earning First Team Academic All-District V honors on May 22. She also earned Second Team Academic All-District V College Division accolades from CoSIDA and ESPN The Magazine in 2006. The psychology major finished her four years at the College with a 3.89 cumulative grade point average. During the last two years she earned Lake Forest’s Junior and Senior Scholar Athlete Award for having the highest grade point average among student-athletes in the same class over the previous three semesters. Rezac is also a three-time Academic All-Midwest Conference honoree. Rezac, a senior, was the runner-up in the 1-meter diving competition at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship Meet and placed third off the 3-meter board. Her score in the latter event was actually higher than the previous national meet record. The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors and Rezac attained that status in an individual event seven times in her career, more than anyone else in team history. She is also a three-time Midwest Conference Diver of the Year and has claimed five individual titles in her career at the conference meet. Rezac set dual meet school records off both boards on February 2 and also owns the program’s 1-meter mark for 11 dives. She was the team’s captain and Most Valuable Performer in 2007-08 as well as the program’s representative on the Lake Forest College All-Sportsmanship Team.
