MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Thanks entirely to the accomplishments of two divers, Lake Forest College tied for 18th place at the 2006 Women’s Swimming & Diving NCAA Division III National Championship Meet over the weekend (March 9-11). It was the program’s highest finish in 10 years.

Sophomore divers Kendall Swett (Akron, OH/Hawken) and Maggie Rezac (Omaha, NE/Marian) each turned in a pair of All-American performances at the meet. They began by placing third and seventh, respectively, in Thursday’s 1-meter event. Swett posted a score of 437.60 and Rezac turned in a mark of 420.45. The 3-meter diving competition started on Friday and was completed Saturday evening. Swett’s winning score of 489.00 was not only the highest at the meet, but also an NCAA Division III record. Rezac finished eighth with 425.50 points.

Swett, the program’s fourth national champion and the third Forester diver to accomplish the feat, was named “Diver of the Meet.” Fifth-year diving coach Susan Bromberg was rewarded for directing Rezac and Swett to a combined 59 team points with national diving coach of the year honors.

Both Swett and Rezac also earned All-American honors last year as freshmen while leading Lake Forest to 27th in the team standings with 35 points. Swett placed fifth off the 3-meter board and Rezac was sixth in the 1-meter competition. Each placed 13th in her other event.
