OXFORD, Ohio - Thanks solely to the performance of senior diver Maggie Rezac (Omaha, Neb./Marian), the Lake Forest College women’s swimming & diving team placed 28th at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship Meet over the weekend (March 13-15). The College of Wooster hosted the event at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Kenyon College placed first in the standings for the 22nd time in the last 25 years.

Rezac began the meet with a runner-up finish in Thursday’s 1-meter diving with a score of 453.45 points, just 1.75 points shy of the individual champion. It was her best career finish at the national meet.

The 3-meter competition was spread over two days, with the final dives taking place Saturday night. While Rezac’s 495.65 points were more than anyone had ever scored at the championship meet prior to this season, she placed third in this year’s competition, less than 14 points out of first.

Rezac has now earned All-American honors (top eight) in an individual event seven times in her career, the most in team history. Seventh-year diving coach and 2006 National Diving Coach of the Year Susan Bromberg has directed Lake Forest athletes to 10 All-American performances in the last four seasons.

It was the fourth consecutive top-30 finish for the Foresters and their 12th such placing in the 27-year history of the NCAA Division III Championship Meet.
