Forester Women Win, Men Lose in Dual Meet with UW-Whitewater
Seven women record at least one win

Julie Weglarz and Matt Gaulding performed well on the boards.

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams were in action Wednesday (November 12) when they hosted the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in their final home meet of the semester. While a deep women's squad had fifteen members score, the men's lack of depth caught up with them in a meet they were able to keep close until the halfway point.

"Depth" was definitely the word of the day for the women's team in their 142-83 victory, which improved their dual meet record to 2-1. Seven different Foresters won at least one individual event and together they totaled nine wins in eleven events. Freshman Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) and senior Julie Weglarz (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Prep) were dual winners and scored 20.75 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the team.

Bueter won the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:29.58 and the 200 Breaststroke in 2:44.36. Weglarz took the top spot in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter diving events.

On the men's side, a small squad of nine was within three points of the Warhawks after seven events before falling 84-130. The loss drops their record to 1-2. A trio of seniors led the Foresters, combining for four individual wins and making up half of the victorious 400-yard medley relay team. Matt Gaulding (San Rafael, CA/Army Navy Academy) was first in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter diving, Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:20.10 and Joe Isaacs (Shorewood, MN/Breck) was the first to the wall in the 100 Free (57.78).

Lowdermilk and Isaacs teamed with freshman Jonathan D'Angelo (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor) and sophomore Aaron Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) to swim the 400 Medley in 4:22.36 and claim the team's first relay victory of the young season.

Lake Forest will now have nine days to prepare for their annual trip to the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis. The meet will take place Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23.
