Foresters Fall to Grinnell College and Host University of Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams competed in a double-dual meet against defending Midwest Conference champion Grinnell College and host University of Chicago on Saturday (November 15). The Forester women fell 227-56 to Grinnell and 200-63 to Chicago while the men were defeated 220-46 by Grinnell and 224-46 by Chicago. Grinnell edged out the hosts 163-135 in the women's competition and 149-144 on the men's side.

Sophomore Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) turned in Lake Forest's only victory of the day in the 100-backstroke with a time of 56.42 seconds. He also finished third overall but ahead of anyone from Grinnell with a time of 2:06.35 in the 200-backstroke.

Freshman Emily Watts (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) was the runner-up to a Grinnell swimmer in the 50-freestyle with a time of 26.55.

Sophomore Lisa Carpenter (Edina, Minn./Edina) placed third overall but earned first-place points against Grinnell in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11:32.92. Freshman Claire Perrott (Northfield, Minn./Colegio San Isidro de Heredia) repeated that feat in the 500-freestyle in 5:36.14.

The final Forester to earn first-place points against either opponent was freshman Jade Perkins (Denver, Colo./JK Mullen), whose 182.25 points in the 3-meter diving competition were more than anyone from Chicago.

Lake Forest's final competition of the fall semester will be December 5-6 at Carthage College's TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic.
