Foresters Compete on Back-to-Back Days
Both teams fall to Whitewater, Grinnell, and Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams competed twice over the weekend (November 16-17). On Friday the Forester women fell to visiting UW-Whitewater 144-82 and the men lost 156-83. The teams traveled to the University of Chicago on Saturday, where the Lake Forest women were defeated 220-53 by both Chicago and Grinnell College. The Forester men fell 186-99 to Grinnell and 175-94 to the hosts. Both Forester squads are now 0-5 in dual meet competition this year.

Freshman Whitney Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School of Acadinda) won a pair of individual events for Lake Forest against Whitewater, placing first in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:22.49 and 100-meter freestyle in 1:04.80. Senior Maggie Rezac (Omaha, Neb./Marian) also won twice, posting scores of 250.35 off the 1-meter board and 288.05 in the 3-meter competition. Freshman Lisa Carpenter (Edina, Minn./Edina) posted the team’s other win with a time of 10:28.86 in the 800-meter freestyle.

Senior Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and freshman Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) each won twice Friday night. Ojdana prevailed with times of 9:23.12 in the 800-meter freestyle and 1:04.79 in the 100-meter backstroke. Mackin touched the wall first in the 200-meter freestyle (2:06.05) and 100-meter butterfly (1:02.94). Senior Nick Primrose (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) also turned in a victory with a time of 56.61 in the 100-meter freestyle.

Rezac won Saturday’s 1-meter diving event with a score of 237.95. Carpenter was the runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:36.29) and Hales placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.98).

Mackin prevailed in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday with a time of 55.61, placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.28, and won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:10.23. Other runner-up finishes were earned by Ojdana in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.53) and 100-yard freestyle (49.78).

After a weekend off of competition, Lake Forest will travel to Carthage College the following weekend (November 30-December 1) for the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic. The meet will begin at 10:00 both Friday and Saturday morning.
