Lake Forest Finishes Fourth at Thanksgiving Invitational
Swett repeats national meet-qualifying scores

ST. LOUIS, MO - The Forester swimming & diving teams placed fourth at Washington University’s Thanksgiving Invitational over the weekend (November 19-20). The hosts won the men’s competition and Lindenwood University captured the women’s title.

A pair of Lake Forest swimmers won an event. Junior Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) touched the wall first in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:15.82 and sophomore Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) pulled away from the rest of the competition in the 1650-freestyle with a time of 17:23.57. Bueter placed second in the 400-IM (4:47.88), third in the 200-breaststroke (2:31.27), and sixth in the 100-butterfly (1:03.06). Ojdana was the runner-up in the 200-freestyle (1:49.10) and placed fourth in the 100-freestyle (50.00) and sixth in the 500-freestyle (5:00.07).

Sophomore Maggie Rezac (Omaha, NE/Marian) won the 3-meter diving competition with an NCAA National Championship Meet-qualifying score of 433.80 and placed fifth off the 1-meter board (322.25). Classmate Kendal Swett (Akron, OH/Hawken) finished second in both events with qualifying marks of 372.10 (1M) and 425.95 (3M).

Other top-six finishes for the Forester women included freshman Jenna Sasanfar (Tonka Bay, MN/Minnetonka) in both the 100-backstroke (3rd-1:05.88) and 200-backstroke (6th-2:24.69), senior Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) in the 200-butterfly (4th-2:23.68), and sophomore Lauren Peterson (Arvada, CO/J.K. Mullen) in the 400-individual medley (5th-5:02.86).

On the men’s side, senior Aaron Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) finished fourth in the 200-breaststroke (2:26.33), junior Derek Drayer (Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado) placed fifth in the 100-breaststroke (1:05.59), freshman Joaquin Nava (Gurnee, IL/Highland Park) was third in 3-meter diving (246.35) and fifth off the 1-meter board (231.50), and fellow freshman Jared Bieschke (Milford, NH/Milford) finished fourth in the 1-meter diving competition (250.00).

After a weekend off from competition, the swimmers will compete in the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic at Carthage College on December 2-3.
