November 5, 2004 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Sweep Monmouth, Split with Lawrence in Double Dual The Forester women put on a dominating display, winning 10 out of 13 events. The Foresters out swam the Scots in all the women’s races, posting an 84-27 victory. The women also defeated Lawrence 72-40 to boost their record to 2-0. Leading the way for the Foresters were sophomores Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) and Alexandra Hales (New Iberia, LA/Episcopal School). Bueter won the 200-meter individual medley (2:34.20) and 100-meter butterfly (1.09.69). Hales captured the 50-meter (30.14) and 100-meter freestyle (1:05.99). Junior Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) took the 200-meter freestyle (2:22.19) and placed second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:16.68). Newcomer Mia Hable (Hudson, OH/Hudson) took first in the 800-meter freestyle (10:14.53) and second in the 400-meter freestyle (5:00.73). Freshman Lauren Petersen (Arvada, CO/J K Mullen) won her first race in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:20.71). Petersen, along with teammates Colwell, Hales, and Bueter, also won the 400-meter medley relay (4:51.41), the meet’s first event, to jump-start the Foresters. On the men’s side, Lake Forest outscored Monmouth 84-27, but was defeated by Lawrence 76-29. Freshman Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) won the 200-meter freestyle (2:04.47), placed second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:06.43) and finished third in the 400-meter freestyle (4:37.37). Classmate Nicholas Primrose (Mayfield Heights, OH/Mayfield) was second in the 50-meter (26.15) and 100-meter freestyle (58.68). Sophomore Jonathan D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor) was second in the 100-meter fly (1:07.16) and third in the 800-meter freestyle (9:55.24). In the 400-meter freestyle relay, the team of freshmen Steven Crabbe (Tucson, AZ/University) Troy Szafalowicz (Oak Brook, IL/Hinsdale Township Central), Brayton Groth, and sophomore Michael Zorniak (Chicago, IL/Lincoln Park) finished second. Junior Aaron Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) added to the Forester scoreboard with a second-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:16.55). Lake Forest freshman diver Kendall Swett (Akron, OH/Hawken) had an impressive opening night. On the 1-meter board Swett scored 241.95 points, just 3.05 away from qualifying for the national meet. Swett blew away the competition again on the 3-meter board, scoring 253.85 points, 1.15 shy of a national qualifying score.
