Carthage College Sinks Foresters in Close Meet
Lake Forest teams fall by combined total of 27 points

Chelsea Bueter won five times in two meets over the weekend.
KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College swimming and diving team traveled to Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Saturday (November 6). The Foresters were edged out by the Redmen of Carthage College 126-117 and by the Lady Reds 134-116. There was no diving action, as Carthage does not have a diving team.

Lake Forest men’s team has given Carthage trouble in the past, but not this year. “Carthage is perennially-ranked as a top 10 team in men’s swimming,” remarked Lake Forest College swim coach Alec Webster. “We like the challenge of swimming against ranked teams. Meets like these gauge our progress and help us swim better.”

Freshman Michael Ojdana (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) had an impressive day, finishing first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:35.02), the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.72) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.98) for the Foresters. Junior Aaron Koop (Newton, KS/Newton), sophomore Jon D’Angelo (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor), and freshmen Derek Drayer (Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado) and Nicholas Primrose (Mayfield Heights, OH/Mayfield) all scored points for Lake Forest College. Primrose was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.46) and took third in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.15) and 50-yard freestyle (23.61). Drayer was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.90).

The women’s squad had strong swims from sophomore Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) and junior Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield). Bueter captured first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.45) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.61). Colwell placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.30) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.80). Sophomore Erin Price (Denver, CO/Littleton) took third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.46) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:15.25). Colwell, Bueter, freshman Lauren Petersen (Arvada, CO/J K Mullen) and sophomore Alexandra Hales (New Iberia, LA/Episcopal School) outdistanced the Lady Reds in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:00.94).

The Foresters are back in action Wednesday, November 10th at UW-Whitewater.
