Lake Forest Falls to Carthage College in Home Opener
Two Forester women and three men win an event each

Nick Primrose
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester swimming & diving teams hosted Carthage College Friday (November 9) night. Lake Forest fell 115-94 on the women’s side and 100-98 on the men’s, leaving both squads with 0-2 records on the young season.

Freshman Lisa Carpenter (Edina, Minn./Edina) posted the home team’s first victory of the day when she won the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:06.12, more than eight seconds ahead of the runner-up. Senior diver Maggie Rezac (Omaha, Neb./Marian) posted the Forester women’s other two wins in the 1-meter (266.25 points) and 3-meter (285.95) competitions. Her score off the higher board exceeded the NCAA Division III National Meet qualifying standard.

Senior Michael Ojdana’s (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) time of 2:02.8 in the 200-meter freestyle was less than a second faster than the second-place finisher in the event. That margin pales in comparison to classmate Nick Primrose’s (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) triumph in the next event, the 50-meter freestyle. At 25.75, he finished just .02 seconds ahead of Carthage’s top sprinter. Freshman Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) also turned in a winning performance in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:01.94.

Lake Forest will compete twice next weekend (November 16-17). The Foresters will host UW-Whitewater Friday night at 6:00 and travel to the University of Chicago to face the hosts and Grinnell College at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.

Overall Results: Women | Men
