Inducted 2005 Tammy Hanke grew up in Arlington Heights , Illinois , and graduated from Prospect High School . She was a member of the softball team as well as the National Honor Society. Hanke enrolled at Lake Forest College in the fall of 1986 and made a significant impact on the softball team her freshman season. She earned All-Midwest Athletic Conference for Women North Division honors that year and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. As a sophomore she helped lead the Foresters to a 14-11 record and the program's first conference championship. The squad's 18 victories the next year were, at that time, the highest single-season total in the program's history. Hanke earned all-conference and team MVP honors again her junior and senior seasons and finished her career among the program's all-time leaders with 78 runs scored, 85 base hits, 57 walks, and 22 stolen bases. Lake Forest won 52 games from 1987-90, more than in any previous four-year span in team history. She lists her husband Chip and daughters Victoria and Emily as her greatest lifetime achievements.
