Head Coach Beth Pier

The 2007 season was Beth Pier's 14th and final year at the helm of the Forester volleyball program. With a 252-157 career record, she easily finishes as the most successful coach in team history. Her impressive .616 overall winning percentage is bettered by a 66-28 (.702) mark in Midwest Conference matches.

Pier has led Lake Forest to five MWC championships (1997, 1999-2001, 2003) and four trips to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament (1999-2001, 2003), where her 1999 team advanced to the round of 32. She was named MWC Coach of the Year each time her team won the league title and she has coached the MWC Player of the Year four times (Anna Panighetti in 1997, Sarah Frantz in 1999 and 2000, and Stephanie Reinboldt in 2001). In addition, the Foresters have garnered 45 all-conference selections in her tenure, including 27 first team choices.

Last year's squad was 9-18 overall and sixth in the Midwest Conference with a 4-5 record in league play. The Foresters were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the MWC Tournament for the second consecutive year. One Forester was named First Team All-MWC and two others earned second team honors.

The team posted four 20-win seasons and a 166-114 overall record in her last nine years at the College. Lake Forest was 52-20 in league play during that time with four MWC titles and four NCAA appearances. With a 23-6 record, the 2000 team posted the best winning percentage (.793) in school history.

Pier, who had just two losing seasons in her career, posted an 18-8 record in her first year (1994). Her first of five 20-win seasons came in 1996 when the Foresters were 20-8 and her first MWC title came in 1997.

Coach Pier, a Midwest Conference veteran, is not only a 1987 St. Norbert College graduate, but was an assistant volleyball coach at St. Norbert and Lawrence University for a total of six years before accepting her first head coaching job at Lake Forest.

While earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from St. Norbert, Pier won seven MWC championships, including three in volleyball. She also played in the 1986 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Final Four while an undergraduate at St. Norbert.

Pier is a member of both the St. Norbert College and St. Mary Central (WI) High School Halls of Fame.

Coach Pier also served as the College's Director of Club Sports and, from 1994 to 2000, an assistant basketball coach.
