Metzger Joins 1,000/1,000 Club in Loss at Chicago
Senior records 1,000th career kill

Stephanie Metzger now has 1,000 kills and 1,247 digs.
CHICAGO, IL - The Forester volleyball team dropped a four-game match (30-22, 30-21, 25-30, 30-28) at the University of Chicago Saturday. It was the final regular season contest of the year for Lake Forest, who now has an overall record of 18-11. The University of Chicago raised its mark to 7-25.

Senior Stephanie Metzger's (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) tenth and final kill of the match was the 1,000th of her career. She joined classmate Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) as the only players in school history to reach the 1,000-mark in both career kills and digs. In addition, Metzger's 35 digs on Saturday marked the third time this week that she recorded at least 30. No Forester had ever reached that mark in just one match until Anderson accomplished the feat on October 17. Metzger leads the 2003 Foresters with 332 kills and a school record 501 digs. She has 1,247 digs in her career.

For the third consecutive match, freshman Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) led the team in kills. She recorded 14 on Saturday with just two errors in 25 attempts (.480 hitting percentage). Anderson tied Metzger with 10 kills and added 27 digs. Sophomore Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) had 20 digs and her 447 this year trail only Metzger in the program's single-season record books.

Junior DeAnna Bauer (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) registered 29 assists and freshman Kendra Casey (Wauwatosa, WI/Wauwatosa West) added 14.

The Foresters finished the Midwest Conference portion of their schedule with a 6-3 league mark and will be the #5-seed in the MWC Championship Tournament next weekend (November 7-8) at St. Norbert College. Lake Forest will take on #4 Ripon College on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the tourney quarterfinals. The winner will advance to the semifinals, which will be played at 12:30 Saturday afternoon. The loser will be back on the court at 7:30 p.m. in the consolation bracket.
