Baich Named First Team All-Conference, Sturgill and Cretacci Second Team
Foresters have at least one first team selection for 15th straight year

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2007 All-Midwest Conference volleyball teams were released Monday (November 12) and three Lake Forest College players made the list.

Senior middle blocker Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) was named First Team All-MWC for the third straight year after earning second team honors as a freshman. Baich led the squad with 332 kills on the season and ranked third in the league in kills per game. She was also the team’s leader with 97 blocks and finished six in the conference in blocks per game. Baich became the Foresters’ all-time leader in career blocks the opening weekend of the season and set the mark for kills on October 27. She finished with 1,380 kills and 470 blocks in her four seasons on the team.

Junior libero Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) earned Second Team All-MWC honors for the third consecutive season. She led the team and with 646 digs and ranked 13th in the nation in digs per game. With 1,892 digs in three seasons, she is just 191 shy of the team’s career record in that category.

Junior outside hitter Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) was second on the team with 280 kills this year and ranked fifth in the conference in kills per game. She also finished third on the squad with 39 blocks. She posted double-figure kills totals in 16 matches on the year, including all but two of the last 13.

Lake Forest has now had at least three all-conference selections nine consecutive years and one or more first team choices 15 seasons in a row.

The Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 9-18 and a conference mark of 4-5. The team finished sixth in the league standings and reached the quarterfinals of the MWC Tournament.
