Lake Forest's Sturgill Named First Team All-Conference, Cretacci Second Team
Seniors consistently led the 2008 Foresters in digs and kills, respectively

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2008 All-Midwest Conference volleyball teams were announced Monday (November 17) and a pair of Lake Forest College players made the list.

Senior libero Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) was a First Team All-MWC selection after earning Second Team honors each of the past three seasons. She led the team in digs in all but one of 27 matches this season, paced the conference with 671 digs on the year, and ranked fourth in the nation in digs per set. Sturgill is easily the program's all-time leader with 2,553 career digs and set the single-match record with 46 digs at Lawrence University on October 18.

Senior outside hitter/middle blocker Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) was a Second Team selection for the second year in a row. She finished the 2008 season with a team-high 312 kills and she led the squad in that category in all but two matches. Her 3.15 kills per set were the second-highest total in the league. Cretacci was also second on the team with 275 digs and 47 blocks and third with 29 aces.

Lake Forest has now had at least one first team honoree 16 consecutive seasons and two or more overall selections 14 years in a row.

The Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 8-19 and a conference mark of 4-5. The team finished sixth in the league standings.
