Grinnell Hands Foresters Only Home Loss of 2002
Comeback bid falls short in fifth game

Jenna Harper is the fourth Forester to record at least 100 blocks in a single season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - After falling behind by two games, the Forester volleyball team forced a game five but could not pull out the victory over visiting Grinnell College on Saturday (November 2). Grinnell's victory (30-27, 30-25, 25-30, 20-30, 15-9) drops Lake Forest's overall record to 17-13 and its Midwest Conference mark to 5-4. It is the only home loss of the season for the Foresters.

Junior Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) returned from injury to lead the Foresters in kills with 20. She also added 14 digs and a pair of blocks. Anderson is just 12 kills away from 1,000 in her career.

Fellow junior Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) was second on the squad with 17 kills. Her three blocks gave her 102 on the season, the third-highest total in school history. Chris Larson had 105 in 1986 and Angela Lagerman had 123 last year.

Two Foresters recorded at least 20 digs in the match. Sophomore Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) tallied 20 and junior Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech), who recently set a school record with a 28-dig match, had 26 on Saturday. It marked the fifth time Metzger reached the 20-dig mark this season and the fourth time for Krueger.

Sophomore Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) had 35 assists, matching her own team-high for the season. Sophomore Abbey Larson (Livonia, MI/Stevenson) also matched a Forester season-high with eight blocks.

Lake Forest will be the #5 and Grinnell the #4 seed at next weekend's (November 8-9) Midwest Conference Championship Tournament. The Foresters and Pioneers will play at 2:30 p.m. The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinals.
