Lake Forest Draws Familiar Foe for NCAA Tournament First Round
Foresters will play Elmhurst on Thursday at 5:00 in Whitewater, WI

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College will face Elmhurst College in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament on Thursday (November 9th) at 5:00.

The match will be played at UW-Whitewater and the winner will take on UW-River Falls, who has a first round bye, in the next round this Saturday.

Elmhurst is the last team to beat Lake Forest. The Blue Jays downed the Foresters in three games on October 5th in Lake Forest, IL. Lake Forest last defeated Elmhurst in 1996 and currently has a five-match losing streak against the Blue Jays.

Lake Forest will be playing as the six seed in the Midwest region for the second straight year. Elmhurst is the three seed, while UW-River Falls is the two seed and UW-Whitewater is the top seeded team in the bracket.

The Foresters earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Midwest Conference championship. It was the program's second straight and third in the past four years.

LF will bring a 23-5 overall record, including a 12-match winning streak, into Thursday's match.

It is the second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Foresters, who defeated Calvin College in the first round of last year's tourney before falling to Mount Saint Joseph's in the round of 32.

Lake Forest was the only sixth seed to advance to the second round in the 1999 NCAA's.
