LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College volleyball team won three times without a loss Saturday (October 11) in the 20th Annual Forester Invitational. The hosts knocked off Dominican University 30-24, 30-7, 30-27 and the University of Chicago 22-30, 30-27, 26-30, 30-22, 15-13 in pool play and then Beloit College 30-22, 30-17, 33-31 in the championship match. The Foresters raised their overall record to 12-8.

Beloit had defeated both Principia College and North Park University, who also beat Principia, in pool play. Dominican triumphed over Chicago in pool play and North Park in the third-place match. Chicago swept Principia in three games to place fifth.

North Park's Amanda Klufetos, Chicago's Erica Pettke, Beloit's Katelynn Rynders, and Dominican's Mary Welk were named to the all-tournament team. Joining them were Lake Forest junior Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) and senior Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton). Krueger tallied 111 assists on the day, including 57 in the victory over Chicago. She also added six kills and 30 digs and tied for the team lead with six aces. Harper had five aces and led the Foresters with 35 kills, a .338 hitting percentage, and 14 blocks.

Senior captains Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) and Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) were next on the squad with 30 and 28 kills, respectively. The duo also combined for 74 digs, nine aces, and as many blocks. Metzger became just the third player in school history to record 1,000 career digs, reaching that mark in the opening match against Dominican. She leads the team in both digs and kills so far this season and needs just 108 more kills to join Anderson as the only players in the program's history to reach the 1,000-mark in both categories.

Sophomore Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) led the team in digs on the day with 52. She reached double figures in all three matches, led the squad in two of them, and matched a career-high with 27 against Chicago. Freshman Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) ranked fourth on the team with 17 kills, tied-for-first with six aces, and second with eight blocks on the day.

Lake Forest will take its 4-1 Midwest Conference record on the road next weekend (October 17-18). The Foresters will be in action at Knox College (6-16, 1-5 MWC) Friday evening at 7:00 and at Grinnell College (6-19, 2-3) Saturday at noon.
