LAKE FOREST, IL - Offensive balance has always been a strength for the Lake Forest College volleyball team and each of the six starters is capable of having a big match. So Head Coach Beth Pier didn't panic when her usually reliable middle attack was struggling a bit versus Wheaton College Tuesday night (October 16). Outside hitters Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) and Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) justified their coach's faith in them by combining for 25 kills and 22 digs to lead the Foresters to a 32-30, 30-27, 30-27 win over the Thunder.

Perhaps the most important statistic for the outside hitters was their hitting percentage. While senior middle blocker Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic) did lead the team with 15 kills, she also had an uncharacteristic eight errors (.219 hitting percentage). On the other hand, Metzger had 13 kills with just 4 errors (.310) and Anderson tallied 12 kills and only 2 errors (.323). Metzger also tied defensive specialist Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) for the team lead with 13 digs. Senior setter Leslie Boyle (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) had an outstanding match, dishing out 47 assists and adding 10 digs and 2 blocks.

The win improves the Foresters' record to 17-11 going into an important weekend of Midwest Conference play. They will travel to Knox College Friday, October 19, and host Illinois College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
