Foresters Drop Heartbreaker to Monmouth in MWC Finale
Team falls to 6-3 in league play

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College volleyball team fell just short in its bid to capture the Midwest Conference South Division title on Thursday (October 30). After winning the first two games 30-19 and 30-20 over visiting Monmouth College, the Foresters fell 30-24, 30-27, and 15-11 in the final three games. The team is now 18-10 overall and finished the MWC portion of its schedule with a 6-3 mark and placed third in the division. Monmouth raised its overall record to 16-13 and tied with Illinois College for the division lead at 7-2.

Freshman Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) led the Foresters in kills for the second straight match. She tallied 17 with just one error in 35 attempts (.457 hitting percentage). Seniors Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) and Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) each had 14 kills and Metzger shattered her own school record for digs in a match with 41. She set the previous mark with 31 just two days earlier. Sophomore Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay), junior Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew), and senior Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) added 24, 21, and 20 digs, respectively. Krueger added a dozen kills while Anderson had ten.

Freshman setter Kendra Casey (Watsonville, CA/Watsonville) established new career highs with 57 assists and 13 digs.

The Foresters will be in action again on Saturday (November 1) at the University of Chicago, The match will begin at 11:00 a.m.
