October 7, 2003 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Lake Forest Evens Record With Triumph Over Carthage
With 102 digs, the Foresters were just four shy of the school record for a four-game match. Senior outside hitter Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) led the way with 29, setting a new school record for a four-game match and equaling the mark for a contest of any length. Sophomore libero Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) recorded a career-high 27 digs, senior outside hitter Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) tallied 21, and junior outside hitter Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) had 19. Metzger led the team with 14 kills and added three aces. Senior middle blocker Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) had 13 kills and a team-high three blocks. Amy Krueger and freshman middle blocker Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) each recorded a dozen kills and Balcerzak led the squad with four aces. In addition to her school record total of digs, Anderson also had ten kills and two aces. Junior setter Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) registered 56 assists on the evening and added a pair of aces. She is easily on-pace to become just the fourth player in school history to record 1,000 assists in a season. Lake Forest will put its 3-2 Midwest Conference record on the line when it hosts Illinois College on Thursday (October 9) at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Blues entered the week with an overall record of 16-8 and a 4-1 mark in the MWC. The Foresters defeated Illinois College in three games earlier this season at the Illinois Wesleyan University Classic.
